Job Description U.S. Bank is seeking an innovative and strategic technology leader to serve as the Head of AI Technology for WCIB. This executive leadership role is responsible for accelerating Artificial Intelligence adoption across Wealth, Corporate, Commercial, and Institutional Banking (WCIB). The leader will establish and execute the AI strategy, operating model, and delivery framework that enables business lines to leverage enterprise AI capabilities, accelerate innovation, improve productivity, and drive measurable business outcomes while maintaining strong governance and risk controls. Key Responsibilities • Define and execute a multi-year AI technology strategy and roadmap that advances client experiences, operational efficiency, employee productivity, and business growth across WCIB. • Lead the development and operation of a federated AI delivery model, establishing AI engineering pods embedded within business-aligned technology organizations. • Partner with senior business, product, and technology leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value AI use cases that drive measurable outcomes. • Accelerate adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, Machine Learning, and enterprise AI platforms across WCIB technology teams. • Collaborate with enterprise AI organizations and Centers of Excellence to leverage shared platforms, reusable services, and standardized AI architectures. • Establish scalable AI engineering practices, frameworks, tooling, and governance that enable rapid and consistent delivery across multiple business units. • Drive AI-enabled improvements across the software development lifecycle, increasing engineering productivity, code quality, delivery speed, and operational excellence. • Lead AI talent strategy including workforce planning, recruitment, capability development, mentoring, and upskilling initiatives. • Ensure adherence to enterprise standards for Responsible AI, model governance, security, compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements. • Influence executive stakeholders and technology leaders across the organization to create alignment, remove barriers, and scale AI innovation throughout WCIB. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience • 10 or more years of relevant software engineering experience • Six or more years of experience leading multiple software engineering teams Required Skills & Qualifications • Proven experience leading large-scale AI, data, platform, or technology transformation initiatives. • Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Machine Learning (ML), Agentic AI, and enterprise AI platforms. • Experience building and scaling product-oriented technology teams and federated operating models. • Demonstrated success delivering AI solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. • Strong background in software engineering, cloud technologies, data platforms, and enterprise architecture. • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Demonstrated ability to influence across complex organizations and align multiple stakeholders toward common outcomes. • Experience partnering with senior executives, product organizations, and enterprise technology teams. • Expertise in assessing AI opportunities and risks while balancing innovation, governance, and business value. • Experience working within financial services environments preferred. Location expectations This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
