Scrum Master with AI project experience

Our challenge We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support and facilitate Agile delivery across artificial intelligence and machine learning projects. The Scrum Master will help cross-functional teams deliver high-quality AI solutions by enabling effective collaboration, removing impediments, promoting Agile principles, and ensuring alignment among business stakeholders, product leaders, data scientists, engineers, and other project contributors. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $97k/year & benefits (see below). Key Responsibilities • Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more AI, machine learning, or data science teams. • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including:Sprint planning • Daily stand-ups • Sprint reviews and demonstrations • Retrospectives • Backlog refinement sessions • Coach teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Scrum principles, Agile practices, and continuous improvement. • Help teams translate AI objectives into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint goals. • Coordinate work across data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, data engineers, product managers, UX professionals, security teams, and business stakeholders. • Identify, track, and remove delivery impediments, including data availability, infrastructure constraints, model performance issues, integration dependencies, and resource limitations. • Promote realistic planning and help teams manage uncertainty associated with experimentation and research-driven work. • Support the development and maintenance of product backlogs, roadmaps, sprint plans, and delivery metrics. • Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and key milestones, communicating status clearly to leadership and stakeholders. • Encourage incremental delivery of AI capabilities, from data preparation and experimentation through model validation, deployment, monitoring, and enhancement. • Help ensure that AI deliverables meet agreed standards for quality, security, privacy, explainability, fairness, and regulatory compliance. • Support effective collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Facilitate lessons learned and implement improvements to team processes, workflow, communication, and delivery effectiveness. • Use Agile metrics such as sprint predictability, throughput, cycle time, cumulative flow, and impediment trends to support data-informed improvement. • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, psychological safety, and continuous learning. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. • 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in recent projects. • Experience working with software development, data, analytics, AI, or machine learning teams. • Strong knowledge of Scrum, Agile principles, and software development life cycles. • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and coaching cross-functional teams. • Strong organizational, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills. • Demonstrated ability to identify risks, manage dependencies, and resolve delivery blockers. • Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar platforms. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly collaborative environment.
